Can you replace a 1998 Oldsmobile intrigue 3.8 liter v6 engine with an Oldsmobile alero 3.4 liter v6 engine if not what can you replace the intrigues engine with?
A 3.8 of the same series from any GM Division. 3.4 do not share the same bolt pattern. 3.5 Intrigue engines are only in certain Intrigues and Auroras, and do not share the bolt battern with 3.8s. But this comes from someone who has put a 455 Toro in the rear of an S10, and a W-41 in a Fiero. Anything goes in anything if you are creative. :) Read More

Added antifreeze to surge tank on 2000 Alero now antifreeze leaks from back of engine only sometimes?
When running the air conditioner, there might be a small leak of fluid on the 2000 Alero after it is parked. This is normal as it is only the overflow valve being released. Always check the antifreeze level before operating the vehicle in the summer to prevent low antifreeze warnings. Read More

What would cause a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero to start and only run for a few seconds before dying after replacing the fuel pump and filter?
Make sure the pump keeps running when you start the engine. The pump will shut off after a few seconds if you just turn on the key then don't start the engine. That's normal. But the computer is designed to detect that the engine is running and if so, keep the fuel pump running as well. If the computer somehow isn't detecting that the engine is running, you probably have a faulty sensor, connector or… Read More
