What kind of qustion is that?!!! Firt Witches are NOT real!! And two I am sure that if they aren't real, they can't float because they don't exisist. == The reality was that a witch would float because he or she was smart enough to know how not to drown. It was the exhibition of this sort of cleverness and common sense that caused the persecution of knowledgeble people. Wise people are more difficult to control and keep down, and the persecution of "witches" was all about keeping power in the hands of the few church members who controlled it.

How did people in the Medieval Times try and punish witches?

In the medieval times, "witches" were sometimes thrown into ponds or other bodies of water to see if they float, following the common belief that witches floated. It they didn't float, they were declared not a witch, but sometimes the result was that the person had drowned anyway. If someone was declared a witch, then she was therefore not Christian and should be burned.

What was the float sink method in the dark ages?

A belief held widely in England in the middle ages was that a witch would not sink in water but people who weren't witches would sink. It was supposed to be a test to see who was a witch and who wasn't.

How were witches teasted?

One way was by throwing them in a lake with a heavy sinking rock tied to one of their legs. It was to see if they could float. If they could float, that meant that they were innocent. If they sunk, they were evil and witches and NASTY. lol, It was the dumbest thing ever.

What were the accusations made if you were a supposed witch?

If women were on the edges of society, old, poor, single, suxually unconventional, able to float on water, scream, if you could cure illnesses, if you complained a lot or if the local doctor told you that you were a witch then they would poke you with a big, sharp pin (and if blood came out of that spot then they would prick you again until no blood came out of a spot), they would put you on a stretching rack, or push you off a cliff (and if you floated then you were a witch but if you sunk then you were not a witch even though you would die anyway if you were accused of being a witch).
