Why do you pass back and forth in the flame while heating the liquid?

That is to allow even heat distribution. If the object being heated in a flame is held in one position, a "hot spot" will occur and the liquid may start to boil at that spot.

What color flame has the coolest temperature?

I'm not an expert, but I think it depends on what you're burning, if it is a gas fire than a lazy yellow flame is the coolest. But if you're burning carbons, (paper, charcoal, etc.) than a greenish flame is the coolest.

What is the cold can a flame be?

A flame cannot be any cold but always hot even at the first instant it is lit.

Why does burning of candle produce flames and burning of coal cannot?

First of all we will have to know that what is a flame made up of,a flame is made at a point where fuel and oxygen combine,so in case of both candle and coal there is a fuel ie.wax in candle and coal is itself a fuel.................but if we just think till this much then even coal should produce flame but it doesn't go like this ,actually we are missing something ie. hydrogen(the main component in every flame producing substance).........if hydrogen is not there flame will not be produced .So wax has hydrogen atoms whereas coal doesn't because coal has been burnt before and hydrogen has been used.................that is why hydrogen containing waxy candle produces flames whereas already burnt coal just gives heat not flames. Hope this helps.

What are flames colorations?

Flame color is determined by the temperature at which the fuel is burning. They can therefore be many different colors. Nickel for example burns green. Even in the flame you see when burning a log, there is blue (and the obvious red yellow orange)

Why is safety flame on Bunsen burner not safe?

Because even though it is safer than other flames it is still a flame and it can burn you. It is so called the "safety flame" because it is visible (yellow) and so we have a visual reminder that the Bunsen burner is burning. Compared with the usual flame (blue) which is hard to see.

Why coal does not produce flame on burning?

When the wax melts,it,rises through the wick and are vapourised during burning and form flames.Charcoal,on the other hand, does not vapourise and so does not produce a flame.Charcoal is a fuel which is used in home and it is combustible substance. The substance which vapourises during burning gives flame. For eg:- wax, petrol, kerosene. But charcoal does not produce flame while burning but glows because it is the natural lump variety made from hardwood---can do more than cook burgers and smoke ribs while wax is a petroleum product and even wax is used in candles. Therefore,When the wax melts,it,rises through the wick and are vapourized during burning and form flames.Charcoal,on the other hand, does not vapourise and so does not produce a flame

Why should you stop heating the solution before the liquid has completely evaporated?

The reason one should stop heating the solution before the liquid has completely evaporated is because heat will continue to carry over even after it is removed from the flame. This means that the liquid will continue to evaporate for a little longer.

What effect does carbon dioxide has on burning splint?

it goes out A glowing splint needs oxygen to basically keep glowing. It is a small fire in a way. When the glowing splint is added into an environment full of carbon dioxide, the splint goes out. Carbon dioxide in this case smothers the flame restricting the use of oxygen in combustion thus putting the flame out.
