Make sure that the brake pedal is pressed down or else it won't shift out of park. If you are pressing the pedal and still no action then make sure that the brake lights are turning on as maybe a fuse or an electrical component letting the trannsmission know that you are holding the brake may be faulty. Defective door latch or Nader Pin needs adjustment
engine swapShort answer, no. Based on information from ADP Hollander. Edit:There should be no problem, provided that they were the same type, ie, two V6's or two I4's. I have the engine from a '96 Contour or Mystique in my 2000 Cougar with no problems, you wont even have to deal with the issue of return-vs-returnless fuel systems.
check your brake lights if they not worhing replace fuse or brake light switch
If your 1998 Mercury Mystique won't start after replacing the alternator, it could be due to several reasons. First, ensure the battery is fully charged and properly connected, as a weak or dead battery can prevent starting. Additionally, check all connections to the alternator and ensure the wiring is intact and secure. Lastly, verify that the ignition system and starter are functioning correctly, as issues in these areas can also cause starting problems.
No wont let you.
where is the fuel reset swith for a 1989 mercury topaz
It wont have a name, there will be billions of tiny craters on mercury.
your car probably has transmission issues. tow it to a transmission shop.
