Turn the key on do not start push gas pedal to the floor 3 times, then turn key off . And then start engine. May need to repeat once or twice.
Turn key to ON position and then pump the gas pedal and it will reset oil life meter.
Depends on the maintenance and care it has received or lack of.
First of all, It has a timing chain not a timing belt. No need to change the timing chain and gears. They will last the life of the engine.
Turn key but do not start engine, Push the gas pedal all the way to the floor 3 times, Then turn key off and then start engine. If you have a Driver information Center, DIC, then you reset the oil life monitor with the button with the check mark on it when the oil life message is on.
I have a 2003 1500hd and my steering wheel has controls built into it. if you will press the lower right control button until it shows your oil life , then press and hold the lower left control button until your control panel shows "oil life has been reset" then release. It should now read "oil life 100%". the oil life should only be reset after each and every oil change.
if you have the steering wheel controls, that arrow on the lower right side will reset it.
Put the key in to the "run" position (its just before you turn on your vehicle) Press gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds the change oil & oil life will blink wait 10 seconds and turn on you vehicle if it doesn't reset repeat steps.
NO, That should last the life of the engine.
Mine won't answer either!! help!
How do you manually reset the oil life monitor on a BMW 525i
I would estimate 250,000-300,0000 miles average, but some go quite a bit more.
You have to reset the oil life in the computer to get it to go out.
