because it was made by General Motors. but also because your transmission is about to go. you should do a transmission flush. if that doesn't work you could always drive the truck through a mine field that might make it shift into 3rd or 4th more frequently..

Slide in under the drivers side of the truck and look up at the side of the transmission and you will see the shift cable connection on the side of the transmission and behind that cable you will see a black electrical switch mounted on the side of the transmission. That will be what your looking for.
Take it to Auto Zone and have the codes read free. I t should tell you why the light is comming on.
