if you key wont turn try holding your wheel all the way right has hard as you can and the key should catch. mine does this all the time
ESPECIALLY if parked on a hill and you lock your wheel to the right or left.
WHILE TURNING THE KEY, turn the wheen right or left (it will be hard to do so) to release the pressure from the locking pin in the steering column.
Scared the hell out of me the first time it happened, but all of these Millies start doing at about 7-8 years old.
As my Dad told me once and even applies to this - first time is a bit scary but once you get the hang of it, becomes quite routine and easier to do.

The Mazda Millenia never had a chip in the key so yes the aftermarket key will work however it will need to be cut by a locksmith or the dealer.
