For the same reason Linux binaries don't run in Windows.
1. They are structured completely differently. Linux uses ELF format; Windows uses PE format.
2. They use different methods of memory management.
3. The applications will likely rely on external libraries that simply won't be found on another operating system.

If you have a USB drive and your BIOS supports booting from a USB device then try that.

I think your best bet is to partition your hard drive and run two operating systems. I think the platform of both operating systems are different. some older programs use MS-DOS which can run in windows 98 but wont run in XP and higher versions of windows. there are also emulator programs you can use to run older programs. As for running 98 in a windows 7 environment I don't believe that is possible.

That depends what you are downloading.if you download a file that is for windows but on a mac then it wont work because all windows programs are scripted for windows. likewise with macs.but if you want a download a file for mac but not sure if it is scripted for windows or mac try typing in for what you are searching something like "Free games scripted for mac".Hope this helps but if it doesn't don't be hating me.Peace

I Dont really think there is one but all you have to do is open the programs that always start up and in there setting it should be a box ticked open program when windows startup all you have to do is untick that box and they wont bug you anymore
