It depends on the type of transmission. If it is a manual transmission, the first thing to check would be the linkage. If the linkage is not the problem, then it could be the bushings or the synchronizer.
If it is an automatic transmission, then it could be a problem with the bands, though you could have debris in the valve body or a servo problem. In some cases, linkage bearings could be an issue.
My 1998 Nissan sentra wony shift into high gear
transmission is DONE. Could be a sensor... with the van running, check the level of the transmission fluid....chances are you need to add some
the sunshell gear is stripped out
A common problem with alot of Volvo's is the Overdrive. Basically the high gear. If it wont shift into high gear it means that the "Overdrive" is activated and won't shift into high gear. You need to see if there is a little upwards pointing arrow on your Dashboard Cluster. If there is then you need to replace your Overdrive Solenoid.
You may have a broken transmission or be low on transmission fluid.
my 2001 ford windstar wont shift out of first gear.
A 93 Deville that wont shift from second gear has most likely got an internal transmission problem. Unless the linkage is mis-adjusted, then the problem is onside of the transmission.
could be the modulator valve has went bad !
The transmission computer will default to second gear only when it detects a malfunction and sets a code.
Why wont my 1994 Ford Taurus GL 6cyl Auto transmission shift into third(high) gear. It will only reach speeds of about 35mph +/-
If the transmission won't shift out of first gear on a 1992 Buick Roadmaster, it could indicate the transmission gears are seized. It can also indicate a low fluid level.
the shift siliniod for AOD transmission is bad. it cost about 30 bucks and is usually special order
