There could be several reasons. If you are young it's possible that maybe you aren't quite 'developed' yet. Are you using the super absorbency ones? Im in my late 20's and those hurt me. Read the box, it has info on tss that you may learn something from.

Because your vagina may not necissarily be symetrical - your vaginal opening is larger than the tampon so it is possible for the tampon to lean to one side, depending on muscle tone and folds of the vaginal canal. Your cervix can also lean to one side or another, which if you have a short vaginal canal may influence the angle of the tampon.

Usually, it is best to put a tampon in after urinating and cleaning the area with tissue and/or moist wipes, then inserting the tampon in as far as it will go (comfortably) working your way from the farthest back to the front and pushing the tampon out slightly of the tube as you do so until it is completely out of the tube and the string is left in the front (for easy pull out when it is time to urinate and refresh and clean and do the same process all over again later).

In my experience, it is best to have that area slightly moist while inserting it, that way the cotton of the tampon will stick and stay in place (being completely dry down there and trying to insert it feels like your fighting with it too much trying to make it stay in place.)

Also, there are different size tampons too. I like to buy the variety pack, and there are different sizes to choose from that you can find that will fit you just right...and in the beginning, usually, the bigger ones (extra large and large) help hold more blood, and then the medium and smaller ones work as you come close to ending your cycle.

As a side note, sometimes adding a pantyliner or a thin pad to your panties while using tampons work out great too, especially in the beginning of the cycle, just in case some blood overflows the tampon and gets on your panties...you won't have to throw out a good pair of panties then ;-)

Chances are you're tense - if you're tense vaginal muscles tense, the vaginal canal is basically a muscular tube so this translates to your vagina tightening aka narrowing so making it more difficult to insert anything. If it's getting to the point where it hurts then obviously you're trying to force it, the more you force things the less relaxed you are and the more you're going to be hurting yourself: stop. You also need to make sure that you use the lowest absorbency for your flow, always use the lowest absorbency that you can and ideally use cotton tampons instead of rayon tampons.

Without more information it's hard to say why you may be struggling to insert tampons. It may be that you're not relaxed enough so you're vaginal canal is tightening and making insertion more difficult - relax, and try masturbating beforehand. It may be that the absorbency is too high so friction is making insertion difficult - use lowest absorbency during full flow and try lubricant too. If you still struggle then forget tampons for a while and get to know your genitals a little better, just use pads for now.

It's too small for you, you're not putting it in all the way, or your flow is too heavy for the size tampon you're using. When it's all the way in, you don't feel it. There's just the string.

This could be many things, but you may be attempting to put the tampon in the wrong hole. You might want to speak with your doctor, because they should always fit.

When you insert a tampon does it go past the muscle and right in with the string hanging out or sights on the muscle with the end of the tampon visible?

The tampon goes all the way into the vaginal canal - if that's what you mean by the muscle, as the vaginal canal is essentially a muscular tube. The whole tampon goes into the vagina and quite deep, it wouldn't even be near the vaginal opening once it is inserted so certainly wouldn't hang out. All that hangs out is the tampon string for easy removal, that is if you use a tampon with a string.

Can a tampon get stuck on its own accord or does it have to be pushed somehow?

A tampon cannot really get stuck at all. A tampon can go no further than your vaginal canal, it can't be pushed any higher than that. As long as you are using a tampon and relaxed upon removal the tampon will come out.

You tried take the tampon out it wont what should you do?

You need to relax - if you're tense vaginal muscles tense causing the vaginal canal to tighten - try masturbating as when aroused your vagina relaxes, lubricates, opens, and increases in size. If there's a chance the tampon isn't full enough then try sitting in a shallow bath and help the water reach the tampon so it can fill-up and soften. If you still can't remove the tampon then you need to go to a doctor or hospital as soon as possible to remove the tampon to reduce risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome.

Can you lose a tampax in you?

Going swimming won't cause the tampon to get lost in your body. The vagina is a dead end, and the tampon has nowhere to go.

Not sure if I took my Tampon out or not can't feel it?

Your vaginal canal is only so long, if you've checked your vagina and can't feel a tampon it's likely that there is no tampon. You can also of course check your trash, a not-so-nice task but your last tampon should be near the top of the trash can so you may be able to determine if you removed it that way. If you still can't tell then go see your doctor or go to a walk-in clinic to be safe.
