This is a problem I have and am still dealing with on my 2000 ZR2 blazer. First the cheapest is to check the vacuum line runs to acuator under the battery tray. Next it could be your buttons not working(I doubt it but has happend). Then its getting expensive could be silonoid or shifter on the transfer case. The n if not that the most expensive and notorious with our blazer is the ECM = Electronic Control Module which is the computer for the transfer case (dealership only part $475). Hope I helped!
I had my 200 blazer scanned an was told it was a bad fuel tank cap. I replaced it and the light is still on.
Yes. Just be sure you do it with both differentials.

The blazer could have trouble with the shift switch. The shift solenoid could be defective as well. Check both of these for problems.
the electric servo and or the switch is bad.could be one or the other. A common problem if not used in some time.

You can get them from the top with the distributor removed.
There is actually a little bit more info needed: 2WD OR 4WD, Ring Gear size, 7-5/8 or 8-1/2, What ratio? GM option code: GU4-3.08 GU6-3.42 GT4-3.73. However It wont be a direct fit to a 2000 blazer only 1995-1997 Blazer only. For 1997 makes a difference with or with out AWD, along with with or with out ZR2 option.
