I gather you mean the rear parking and stop lights. Pop the trunk and you should see a couple of Phillips screws that need to be removed. The entire light assembly has to come out to change the bulb so now on the outside of the light assembly is a clip that has to be popped out. GENTLY pry the edge of the light assembly out away from the car but be sure to protect the paint on the car as you pry. The whole light assembly should now be loose and pull it out and you should now locate which bulb is blown. The light harness I believe rotates a quarter turn and pulls out. Replace the bulb and reverse assembly.
If you look under were the plate is the light is held in by 2 plastic screws just get a flathead screwdriver and separate them and light assembly will come right out

The Taurus and Sables come off the same assembly line - using many of the same parts. If the engine is the same - same year of vehicle - etc., then it is very likely the engines would be interchangeable.
Take your car to an auto parts store such as AAA Autoparts or Pepboys. They will check it for free. There are many reasons why the light could come on.
