Try changing the fuel filter. You may have trash in the filter. Your "water in fuel" indicator light will not pick up a dirty filter. Either that or you get an occasional bad batch of fuel from the gas station you usually fill up at. My advice, If you see the tanker truck re-fueling the gas station, keep driving! More than likely the trash at the bottom of the station's tank is stirred up and it will go right into your tank. Wait a couple of days to fuel there again. I put a Racor R60 in line filter in between the engine and the tank. I mounted it on the inside frame rail. It has a self primer so changing filters is a breeze. It has a sight glass so you can see the trash and water building up. There is an optional heater and water in fuel sensor. The filters come in 2 microns on up. My recommendation, get the 10 micron filter. While you're at it buy some "Lucas" injector cleaner. It cleans and lubricates your injectors and injector pump, plus it gives you better mileage and performance. You can buy it at Walmart or at your local truck stop. Add it every other full tank. Happy driving!
