Why wont your puppy stop whining?

If your dog is whimpering, this usually means that he/she is sad or in serious pain. Sometimes a dog will whimper because they are unhappy with a situation. You can often stop them from whimpering by calming them with reassuring tones. For example; a dog might not like to be in a crate and will whimper when put there. If you tell the dog is alright and calm them they can learn to relax and will hopefully stop whimpering.

The best thing to do is to ignore your dog while he/she is whining. Try leaving them in their crate or in a separate room for a short period of time. when he/she stops whining for about 10 minutes go in and praise them for their good behavior. Repeat this a few times everyday. You should see really quick results. Also, your dog may be suffering from separation anxiety. In this case you should keep attention low key. When you are leaving and returning try waiting to say hello, about 10 minutes before leaving and around 5 when returning. Good luck!

That is a minor form of separation anxiety.

Try telling the dog to sit-stay. Go just out of sight, tell him "Wait here" and then walk back and reward the dog if he is being quiet. Then try telling your dog to "wait here" and go another room. Come back and reward. Gradually increase the amount of time you leave the dog. Then try leaving the house, then coming back. Always say "wait here" before you leave.
