If more than window is affected look for the power window fuse, this may clue you in to the real problem, one of the motors may be failing.
is it just blaring and wont stop or it wont let you start the vehicle?

see if it will turn over if there is no grinding noise then u need a new starter

no it wont work ur 1996 thunderbird has a 4r70w aode trans which is an electronic trans, the 85 crown vic aod trans is not electronic it will probably bolt up... but not much else
Check the shifter lock-out on the brake pedal. also check all the fuses.
i have never been able to get it out without messing up the colum it easier just to replace the sterring colume
Do any of your lights work ? or if the key is in the ignition and the drivers door is open do you hear the warning chime ? If not , it sounds like a bad battery cable connection or a dead battery

You probably wont. Chances are, if your window doesn't go up and down right, you have a broken pulley in the window regulator assembly. This is common and requires the replacement of the window regulator.
