If it won't crank, which is probably what you really have going on, it means your battery went bad while you were driving.
Assuming you're referring to the 1994-99 celicas, the ST has a 114 hp 1.8 engine, while the GT has a 147 hp 2.0 engine. There may also be differences in standard equipment level, but anything dropped from the ST will have been available as an option.
