Start with the simple stuff, check your ground wire connections from battery to the block or frame. Have your battery tested with a good tester, one that can put the battery under aload as if starting your truck, it should also be able to see if your charging system is working correctly. The guys at your local auto parts store might even do it for you. A simple way to check your alternator is to put a screwdriver behind it while engine is running, if it pulls the screwdriver to the alternator housing it is probably working because it's creating a magnetic field like it's suppose to. Also possible solenoid might be bad. good luck.

It very well could be that one of more of your cells in the battery is dead and so the battery will not hold a charge anymore. Even if your charging system is working properly, the battery still won't hold a charge no matter how long you charge it. If you've charged your battery numerous times or if it's been drained numerous times (for example, left the lights on like I do all the time), you may need to replace it with a new battery.

Either the battery has a dead cell or something is on drawing power from the battery. Disconnect the negative cable and let it sit overnight. If the battery goes dead, replace it as it has a dead cell. If the battery stays charged then look for something pulling power from the battery. Dome, under-hood, trunk, curtorsey light, etc. Can also be a relay sticking.
