Is your AC turned on? Sometimes those fans will come on at strange times
when it ls.
I'd have the code(s) read. If your check engine light is on, the computer
has probably "thrown a code", as they say. Auto Zone or any of the major
parts places will read them for you at no charge. Knowing the codes thrown
might lead you toward fixing the fan problem.
