i would check your ignition module and coil as a first step. if it is intermittant and predictable, its an electrical issue.
In order to jump start a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, you are going to need a pair of jumper cables. You need to connect your car with a running vehicle.
Bad neutral safety switch? Weak starter solenoid?

The normal series is going to end and the new will start.
Autumn It starts
There is nothing to save. When the neutral wire becomes disconnected the equipment just stops operating. Disconnect the power supply, reconnect the neutral and the equipment will start operating again.
On the inside of the car on the top lower end of the steering column is the neutral safety switch. It will have 2 purple wires. If you jumper the two and then try to crank it with the key and it starts then the neutral safety switch is defective.
Have the neutral safety switch checked. Pop the hood, hold a key across the screw posts on the solinoid. it should start......make sure ignition is on and truck in Neutral.
