Why would a 1994 Chevy Caviler's air conditioner blow fog with the cold air and smell of coolant?
heater core leak...or hose to heater core... a manual will help with diagnosis and repair, and a shop manual should be available at the local library in the reference section, make copies of the right pages, good luck...:)
The head gasket sits between the head and the engine block if it is leaking out where you can see the coolant, yes you can smell the coolant if it is leaking into the engine no you cannot smell the coolant. You can check the oil to see if it has coolant in the oil if it does then the head gasket might be blown.
There are two small cabin air filters that are located behind the glove box and are accessed through the glove box. There is a small access door that can be removed and then you can pull out the filters. If these have not been changed, it could cause the air to smell from the air conditioner. These are expensive to replace (around $55.00 each). Try removing them and cleaning them as best you can before…

What is the problem if you smell a sweet chemical smell under the hood and in the AC vents of your 1996 Chevy pick up?
I have 2001 Chevy Impala and whenever you turn on my air conditioner or heat it makes a rattling or humming noise. I also smell smoke through the vents and when I turn the car off underneath the hood.?
Where is the O2 sensor located on the 2001 Chevy Malibu v6 will this cause it not to start like not getting enough gas and smell a burning smell?
A sweet smell is usually coolant being burned, check your coolant level and oil ( look for milky appearance ) as it may be a head gasket leak. A coolant leak on the outside of the motor may indicate a leak somewhere in the radiator or one of the hoses. When an AC line is leaking I have heard some people describe the smell as sweet.
The coolant could be getting into your oil, or it could be going out the exhaust from a blown head gasket or a cracked head you will probably be able to smell a sweet smell near the exhaust if its being burned... Try a new radiator cap. Much cheaper fix, then above. These engines are also notorious for blown intake manifold gaskets. If the leak is not evident, check around the top of the engine…
How do you know if a diesel engine is burning oil it has been smoking since I had the oil changed the smoke is white but smells like burnt fuel?
The main part of diesel fuel is kerosene, which produces thick black smoke, and gives that smell that is commonly associated with diesel. most likely if it is white smoke, it is antifreeze, if it has a blue tint to it, it is oil. the smell of burnt diesel is rather strong so it could cancel the burnt oil smell, or on the other hand it could be coolant, because burned coolant doesn't have a…
