Why would a 1996 Chrysler Town and Country LXI turn off when you are driving it?

My 1996 Town and Country did this and it was the Cam Shaft Sensor. The check engine light came on also. Went to Auto Zone and they read code. It was easy to change and less than $50.
It could also be a simple problem as the fuel filter.
