Why would a 2000 Chevy Cavalier Z24 run out of gas when tank is still actually 3 quarters full 5 speed manual trans?

3 things i can think of on this note 1. could be a computer problem 2. Could be a sign of the fuel pump going bad. 3. Could be the fuel filter getting stopped up. Might want to take it to a mechanic could be something very minor. You didn't say if your meter showed 3/4 full or you knew for sure there was that much gas in it. My 1998 z24 ran out of gas once with the gas meter showing 1/2 full. I did nothing about it and it never did it again (4 years). Might be a tempermental fuel monitorring system.
