Why would a 300zx start and keep going until you press on the gas and then it stops?

Sounds like it could be a faulty fuel pressure regulator. Take care. jesse also make sure your intake is passing through your o2 sensor and make sure you dont have a bad o2 sensor. I had the same thing happen to me when i replaced a piece of the intake and by passed the o2 sensor it would start idle fine but when i hit the gas it would die shutter or die. check the rubber boot on the throttle cable. Dirt and debris get in the way sometimes causing the accelerator to stick. Easy fix-just rip the damn suckers off Big flaw and the voluntary recall that was issued on the ignition coils and ignition system could be it as well. There are lots of sites and Zx forums with the stats and symptoms with this as well.
