Grey smoke can actually be one, of two things. A lean misfire condition, which will cause the engine to surge at cruising speeds, which would seem like a skip, or miss. The other would be if it were steam, like water leaking into the cylinder, and burning. You would have to be adding water to replace that is leaking into the cylinder, and it would hot, from time to time.
No !
Nope. Body style changed significantly in 1998 when Chevy replaced Geo on the Tracker nameplate. Sorry!
check the ground wire stemy. from the batter neg to the neg on the head light neg side
The clutch disc may have shredded.
My 2003 Chevy Tracker would not restart when it was hot and finally would stall & not restart until it sat and cooled off for 10 minutes. It would crank but not start. We replaced the camshaft it solved the problem. It was located at the back of the engine, at the top and is held by just one screw.
The engines in Chevy Trackers are Suzuki engines, I would recommend NGK plugs.
This can happen because of a problem with the crankshaft position sensor.
SAE 5W30 or 10W30 I would recommend the SAE 5w30 synthetic blend.
Bad exhaust valve / Not seating in the head
