any one who knows how to drive 6 gears can drive a 6 gear car .Most people who can drive a manual car can drive a 6 geared car.
If the brakes are out then you have no business putting it in any gear because it is unsafe to drive a car with no brakes.
There is no drive in a standard transmission car. In most cases you will have reverse, neutral, 1st gear, 2nd gear, 3rd gear, 4th gear, and 5th gear.
if its rear wheel drive then check differential and if it is a front wheel drive car or diferential is fine then a gear in the trannsmission is sheered
safety reasons
If your car is in first gear then you are in drive. Dont mix up the differences between manual and automatics transmissions
The gear between 2nd and 4th. On a 3 or 4 speed it would be direct drive. A 1:1 ratio
no .. Having a seized drive shaft would be like just having the brake on .. will still go in gear .. just wont move ..
Because reverse is a lower ratio gear than drive and puts less load on the engine.
No.
If stick shift jumps outta second gear is it okay to drive the car?
I have a 1995 Ford Econoline van with an automatic transmission. When I went to drive the car today, the shift gear moved and shifted but would not go into gear. It's refusing to "click" into gear for Reverse, Neutral, or Drive, and has quite a problem clicking into Park as well. When I set the car to drive, it does not move, in fact it acts like it's in neutral. What's wrong with it? Is it the transmission, or possibly something else? If so, what?
