There are several possibilities: a clogged fuel line or fuel filter, a malfunctioning fuel pump, or a problem with the clutch and/or transmission that prevents a higher engine speed from causing increased wheel speed.
Could be a bad throttle body
To my understanding, the saying is rightly "put the pedal to the metal", and would come from pressing a car's accelerator all the way down to the metal flooring. Raise the hood and have a helper start the car while you listen. Check around the top of the engine to find the humming.
A dodge pickup 1500 would stall out while driving because of a defective air filter.
CHECK MOTOR MOUNTS AND TRANS MOUNTS OR ALSO CHECK U JOINTS IF A REAR WHEEL DRIVE
bottom engine mount nut snaped
I have a 2007 Nissan sentra and it did the same thing especially when pressing on accelerator. Had to replace my intake valve timing control solenoid bc of long oil changes.
sounds to me like a fuel pump if the engine continued to run but accelerator did not work then check for broken or disconnected accelerator cable both at the pedal and the throttle plate
could be that the sparkplugs are going bad or the spark plug cables which would cause missfire
you might have a bad / or disconnectedidle control valve.
well with any vehicle if the engine is accelerating usually its a linkage problem meaning your linkage is getting stuck somewhere check that first
I had the same problem with my truck its a 2002 f-150 with the 4.2l i changed my spark plugs and wires and it stoped..
