He is attempting to keep a connection with you, regardless of how you feel about him. Do not be flattered by this comment--a person who truly respected your feelings would also respect your decision to end things. The best thing to do is to not reinforce his need for attention from you--either positively or negatively. Cut off contact completely with this man--ask him once only to stop contacting you and do not respond to any phone calls or emails he sends you after that. Even if you feel you know this man, you cannot gauge how "obsessed" he will act. It's far better to be cautious.
