Why would a self assured intelligent man want a dependent submissive woman?

Because it feels good when other people are beneath you. It's the same for anything. If someone puts someone else down they just want to feel better about themselves. In theory, if he has good self esteem and is intelligent and a respectable person, he shouldn't need to put anyone else down. However, people are often insecure on the inside and may try to boost their ego by any means necessary. Unfortunately, throughout the history of civilization men have grown used to riding on the backs of women. Just think of it as slavery. It's a nice life if you can get someone else to do everything for you without having to give them anything, or very little, in return. Also, when it's a woman, you have the added bonus of being able to have sex with her too. Every need is satisfied.

I'm sorry if you have had to deal with a man who treats women as if they belong in the kitchen. Some men have very traditional values. In reality, these "values" are simply the continuation of the form of slavery that i have mentioned before.

Disclaimer: being a "housewife" does not necessarily make you a slave. Many women freely choose a domestic lifestyle and are proud of their accomplishments in that area. The difference is whether a man is forcing or expecting you to fulfill that role, and whether he is contributing to the relationship in return. It is wrong for a woman to be forced into servitude to a man, without being appreciated or treated as an equal.
