You will need an OBDII code reader these can be purchased from Walmart or Harbour Freight from $ 49 and up. This device plugs up to the Volvo's computer via the OBD port found under the change holder on the center console just in front of the gear shift. Once plugged up follow the instructions that comes with the reader on how to clear codes. Before clearing the code, write it down. If after clearing the codes it returns then the problem s a Hard code and must be repaired or it will continue to light the check engine light on the dash. Again if the code returns you must repair the problem that is setting of the check engine light. If the Light is ABS or SRS This will not reset the light.

You can buy the check engine computer and the book comes with it. I know, I bought one. When your check engine light comes on, you plug it in and check the engine and it will give you the code and you look in the book for that code and it gives you the answer.
