I had the same problem...it was the "computer". I had to hit the dash for about a year, then it just stopped working. It was around 800.00 to fix. You need to do at a Chrysler dealer as they have to input the codes that your local mechanic will not have.
A wire going to the battery broke off, when it was reconnected the gauges and lights on the gauges start working again, however the speedometer and the tachometer did not operate.
i had this happen once on an 03 dodge minivan. the alternator went bad and the battery was going dead but had enough power to get the engine started. once i replaced the alternator and charged the battery the gauges worked again. good luck!
You may have an electrical problem. need a professional tech to look at it. I just found out that it is a gauge cluster problem. This is not the first time I heard this as I did call the dealership and explained to the mechanic what was happening, he said and the same thing. It is not uncommon for this problem in trailblazers. If the gauges are not working, then your battery is not getting charged up.
The "bus" is the communication system that the computers use. "no bus" means that the system is not working and no communication is happening. A scan tool and a wiring diagram are required to diagnose.
Did your battery go dead or removed, if so sometimes you can let everything go dead again and the gauges will start working again, if this doesn't work and the needle is below the little pin you can drill a small hole above the needle and I took a paper clip I had straightened out and pulled the needle above the pin and it worked great. I did this before my battery went dead, again (I had done this fix only on the speedometer) and when my battery went dead again the rpm gauge started working correctly again.
A common reason for this is a cracked circuit board in the instrument panel. Do any of the warning lights come on at the same time (ABS, for example)? If you smack the dashboard with your hand sometimes you can make the gauges come on again. It'll likely need a new instrument cluster. --Dennis, ASE Master Tech
When one of your gauges shows something abnormal, your "check gauges" light will come one. Chances are you're low on motor oil. When you corner, the oil will slosh away from the pickup, causing your oil pressure gauge to read zero for a second. This in turn causes your check gauges light to come on, but by the time you look at your gauges, the oil has settled in the pan is your oil pressure is reading normal again. When you see the check gauges light and the gauges are reading fine, check your oil.
something to do with diagnostic codes. you need to have the codes read. I'm having battery problems with my Saturn and it seems to happen then.
did you ever find out if this is possible??? I really want to do this also! Sorry I dont have the answer for you but if I ever find out I'll post on here again.
Not sure, it's been working on again off again for the past few days. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
If you reach away up under the dash to the hardest to reach connectors and push on them and wiggle them it will usually fix the problem. Had one that I cleared the computer by disconnecting the battery for a while.Transmission also wouldn't shift on its own. reconnected the battery and gauges started working again along with the transmission.Still not sure why this worked? (bad computer?) I had the same problem, it was intermittent. If i gave the top of the dashboard a good whack it would come back on. Instrument cluster was the problem.
Turn it on
