How do you disable the electric antenna motor in an '89 Caprice classic it won't stop running?

You can always figure out which fuse to pull and pull it from the fuse box. This will prevent the antenna motor from getting power. The downside to this method is that fuse may also control power to other features, like electric doorlocks or other items. You'll have to pull it and see what else gets affected. The other option is to disconnect the power the motor. However, this may not be so easy. You have to be able to get access to the antenna motor and sometimes these things are buried in the body panel. You would want to disconnect the wire from the fuse box also so you don't have a live wire hanging out inside the dash.

Why would you have a capacitor in series with a ballast in a fluorescent light?

The purpose is twofold. First it is a transformer which steps up the voltage to an amount that will operate the lamp. Secondly it acts as a resistance for the lamp. Without it the flourescent lamp would keep increasing current flow until it would completely burn itself out.

What is good electric power for a house?

If your house has 220vac each leg should have at least 110vac so if you use an electric dryer you would have 110 vac to each leg to run the dryer for outlets and switches it would be the same 110vac volts alternating current to operate electrial devices and to turn the lights on and off.

What changes are to be made for a fluorescent lamp circuit to work if ac supply is replaced by dc?

A fluorescent light fixture is designed to operate on an AC voltage supply. To have the fixture operate off of a DC supply a power inverter would have to be installed. The power inverter would then change the DC to AC for the fixture to operate. These power inverters are reasonably priced these days and can be bought at most DIY stores.

Can a furnace operate on a power factor of 0.2?

If a furnace has a power factor not equal to 1 then there is a motor involved. If it was pure resistive element the Power Factor would be 1. That being said the motor can operate at .2 PF, but this is unusual and not very efficient. If this is the case I would expect that you have a bad motor control circuit and there may be a blown capacitor.
