The Plymouth colony can be considered a success for several reasons. Firstly, the colonists were able to establish a permanent settlement and overcome numerous challenges, such as harsh weather, disease, and food shortages. Additionally, they established a fair and democratic government with the Mayflower Compact, which laid the foundation for future self-governance in America. Finally, the colony thrived economically through agriculture and trade, paving the way for future European settlements in North America.
The Pilgrims were looking for a place where they could worship as they pleased without being persecuted by other religious groups or government. The success of the Virginia colony provided a solution for the Pilgrims. The Plymouth Company, which was not having success like the Virginia Company, in attracting settlers to the New World, hit upon a scheme that would be successful to both Pilgrims and Company. The King was persuaded to let the Plymouth Company send the Pilgrims to America to provide a profitable colony to both the company and the Crown, and, in turn, the King would agree not to persecute the Pilgrims in their colony. When they arrived at Massachusetts Bay, they found a deserted Indian colony(Pawtuxet) that had been wiped out by illness years earlier. They considered it a sign from God that this was a good place to start the Plymouth Colony.

Yes. Scituate was founded in the year 1627 by a group of people from Plymouth. Becuase Scituate is only so far from Plymouth, and it was settled by people from Plymouth, it most likely would have been, tough there is no hard proof of knowing this (as far as I know at least). But it would have been most likely.

The group of people that left England for the Plymouth Colony did so mostly for religious reasons. They were being mistreated in England and the Netherlands and thought America would be better.
