I had the same problem with 137,000 miles on my Nissan pickup. I replaced the spark plugs and the spark plug wires (with high quality ones). I bought a rotor and distributor cap, but did not replace them. I will in the near future. Just the added items made the truck run like brand new. Much more pickup.

Bad engine coolant sensor. Bad fuel injector. Plugged air filter.
Short in the wiring or the circuit is overloaded and pulling too much current. Can also be a loose connection causing a spark.
Some thing's to check on all used vehicles before purchase would be how old it is and how many miles are on it. Also inquire about what parts have been replaced and when they were replaced.
Locked up compressor, or defective compressor clutch.
If it has one, it would be inside the distributor, so the distributor would have to be removed and rebuilt, or replaced. Check the warranty first on your vehicle.
