Why would the gasket on the oil filter of a 2000 chevy malibu keep blowing There isn't an old filter stuck on and oil pumps out when filter is off?
Be sure you are installing the correct oil filter for that engine.
I'm sorry but i actually have a 99 Malibu and they do have a intake manifold gasket which are commonly mistaken for a head gasket when it blows. Mailbu's 97 to 2000 are bad for them blowing. it is located on top of the engine. it's still very expensive **tamnesha Some Chevy engines of that period didn't have a gasket; just a thin film of sealant.
Why would oil be leaking from the oil filter of a 1996 Chevy Lumina. It seems like it has excessive pressure and is blowing by the oil filter seal?
I'm sure it's not a pressure problem. Bad gasket on the oil filter. That or it is possible when the old filter was taken off the gasket for it didn't come off with it. When the new one is put on it won't seal correctly. Go buy a new filter. Take of the old one and look at the gasket for defects. Also make sure there is no gasket left on the oil filter mount.
