This was the case in my wife's 1997 Pontiac Grand Am. Couldn't figure out why. But, when the original alternator went recently, the mechanic also noted that the battery was under the recommended amps recommended for the car. Now with a new alternator and a new battery with plenty of amps the radio display is fine! Answer: The radio might have connection which dims the light when the lights on the car are switched on. This could be wired up wrong.
There are several stores where an individual could get their watch display fixed. Examples would include Gov Berg Watch Repair, 24 Hr Clock Works, and Ohio Watch Repair.
I have a 1997 Buick Lesabre with a GM Radio and would like to know how I can enter a code to unlock the radio. I can opperate the radio from the steering wheel, but not the radio itself. The radio don't display anything on it If you have any info on this I would appreciate it Thank you John
If you find the manual, please let the people at Pontiac know...I'm sure that they would be surprised to find out that they actually made them in "1898"!!
The backlight lightbulb inside the stereo for the display may be burned out ( best case ) or the display itself is bad ( worst case ). How would either senerio be fixed?
Bad fuse
Unfortunately pretty much never, it is in dire need of repair and would take a good 30 years to get it just to display standard. But as there is only one in the world it is not very likely it would ever go onto display.
In Canada it would be around $2000 is what I was quoted. I was able to do it myself for under $300.
A short in the wires.
Read the owners manual. Turn the key to the on position (not start) with the radio off. Wait 10 seconds. Press the "display" button on the radio and hold for 10 to 12 seconds. the radio display will light up . PRESS "display" and "1" to select functions. display i think is enter . read owners MANUAL. It's really simple. Turn the key on but not to start the engine. Make sure the radio is off and hit the "display" button for a couple of seconds, the big knob on the bottom on the left of your radio until the "settings" display shows. Hit the scan button to the right until "Tire pressure" comes up. Hit # 1 on your radio select buttons until it says "reset". Push the "display" button until you hear a "beep". Press the scan button a couple of times until it says "exit" then press "display". After it "beeps" you're all done. If you had an owners manual why would you ask for help.
