Unless you have a digital speedo there is no reason why the battery would effect the cable at all. Speedo cables are completely independent of anything and everything else on most bikes. (Again, unless there is a digital speedo on the bike.) Its most likely just coincidence that the cable went out at the same time you replaced the battery. Check your connections at the guage and the hub and make sure they are tight b4 you replace the cable.
wring on a 1992 sporters speedo
i have a 1995 harley e- glide , recently the speedo quit i dont know if its electric or man how do i go about fixing i have a 1993 sportster with the same problem.....replace the speedo cable, it's a piece of cake and costs maybe 40 bucks. Ehmm...an electra-glide does not have a spedoocable like the sportster...check the cables behind the dials, or on the other end by the speed sensor.
No
you should have a speedo gear on the front axle. it screws into that gear, goes though the bracket on the fender and up to the back of the speedo. hope that helps
If you don't have a speedo cable on your front wheel, you have a speedo sensor. I believe that change was made in 2000.
on the bike somewhere
no it does not , remove speedo and dash ,remove tanks , and go to town .
Check for oversized rear tire for clearance. I recently bought one that had a strange whine at certain speeds and on inclines, but would quit other times. Come to find out that a oversized tire was rubbing quite seriously on the inside arm and drive belt! This can be easily overlooked when most of the rear tire may be hidden by fender, chrome accessories, and saddle bags.
Speedo sensor is bad. Located on top of the transmission, right hand side.
It depends on what year the bike is as to where the turn signal modual is. But try looking under the speedo in the dash. You may have to pull the tanks to get to it. try pulling just the right side tank and let it hang...put a rag on the air cleaner....you can see it buried under the speedo ...you can get to the plug for testing...follow the manual.just lift up the connector.replacing it you have to loosen the speedo mount
The speedo itself or the wiring to the speedo can be bad. The Speedo and all the dash light flickers. Trans. slip, but when i unplug the speed sensor the trans work ok. I change trans. 2 times, speed sensor, alternator, battery. The problem not gone. I need help
