Because you know he still likes you! You know your number one in his thoughts so why would you feel upset. If hes scanning the room looking for you this shows he has it for you. He is definetly thinking of you alot. You know the new girl did not take away his feelings for you so she is no threat. In fact I bet your glad its her and not someone he could become really in love with. Why dont you talk to him?
