having just bought my 535 and wanting to take off the restrictor,i rang around various restrictor kit companies and some local yam garages and they say for my model a'91 2yl there is only a exhaust kit. there is not a kit for the carb!

im not 100% but i THINK you can take out the air restrictor.... but im not sure.
If your VW Jetta produces too much voltage, installing a baluster restrictor will not help.
Unscrew it then take out the bolt then take out the plunger system the stick a long screwdriver in the back and knock out the air restrictor
It can be removed via the 16 pin diagnostic socket, but i think you would need Ford to do it Although if it is a PSV then Ford will likely refuse to do this as the restrictor is a legal requirement.
same place all restrictor plates are, intake manifold, but the Malibu doesnt have one u can remove, it is build into the intake so u would need a perormance upgrade
