Sounds like you have a leak in your fuel system, perhaps in a fuel line. The problem is most likely the EGR valve sticking open due to age/wear, carbon buildup or a piece of trash wedged in the valve. The EGR valve recirculates exaust gasses back into the intake manifold to help lower head temperatures. It should only open when the engine vaccuum is sufficient enough to engage the diaphram. The next time it is doing this, get out and tap on the EGR valve with the handle of a screwdriver or other solid tool. If it stops, change the valve.
