It's obvious there is a lack of communication between the two of you and it's no one's fault because we have to learn as we go. He could simply have a lot of problems going on right now or, he is studying too hard or working too hard. Try meeting with him and start communicating. If he doesn't want to talk about it then you have no choice but to move on.
