9 out of 10 a virus. try if u know how, to uninstall dial-up connection and then reinstall c if u have problems with you modem. u might also check to make sure there is no programs running that need internet access, alot of times if u dont change the settings they automatically try to connect by them selves. if that doesnt work get a good virus detection program, norton, zone alarm, etc. u can also find freeware virus removal programs @ download.com. good luck!
It is a system where a computer can use the phone lines to dial up to the internet
Dial-up modems either plugged into a personal computer slot or were self-contained devices that plugged into the computer's serial port
It is faster than dial-up, and for dial-up you have to connect, but broadband is connected automatically when you start a computer.
by disconnecting
To setup dial up you would need to contact your ISP. Your ISP is your Internet Provider. Otherwise known as the one you pay for your internet connection. They will be able to guide you through the setup process.
When you start the dial-up process, your computer must find the other computer. They then have to match. Once they match, you are connected. That takes a while. With broadband, you are always connected.
i would not use dial up ps i would change to dsl or cable dial up is way to slow
If you have to dial a number on your computer to connect to the internet and cant make or receive calls while your using the internet then you are a dial up user. And of course your speeds will be very low.
A dial-up modem may be a plug-in card inside the computer, or it may connect to a serial or USB port.
It is not recommended but you can share your internet through your computer and the xbox can use it as a gateway to the modem.
Due to the program's large filesize, downloading GIMP on a dial-up connection can take a very long time. If the computer is disconnected or has to redial, the process can be interrupted. However, it's not impossible. When I had dial-up, I downloaded gimp using the Firefox browser and left my computer on all night. In the morning the file was finally done and I installed it.
ADDITIONAL INFO! I don't know how to add it to the question, soo... I have a very old computer running windows 2000 ME and it usually connects to the internet through dial up. We got rid of dial up a long time ago and recently I bought a NETGEAR WG111T wireless adapter. I downloaded the installation files onto my working computer and transferred them to the second non-internet computer via flash drive and installed all the needed software and drivers. The adapter is connected to my router but my computer wants to use dial-up to connect to the internet. Does anyone know a way to re-work the computer so that it connects to the internet with the adapter not dial-up?
