Why wouldn't your engine start after a head gasket has been replaced?

Check to see if you tighten the bolts to spec. and replaced the oil
if you have a spark, check for fuel, ign fuse,antitheft divice, redo your timing...

....or maybe the timing belt/chain was put back on wrong. Then no matter if you have fire and fuel, compression is not there and it wont run. Also, look to see if the wiring is all properly reconnected. Distributor dropped in wrong? Too many possible causes to guess without seeing or hearing it. Does it spin over really unusually fast? Faster than you remember it sounding before? If so, the timing belt or chain is causing the cam and crank to be out of time.

The only real option is to have the head gasket replaced. Do not pour some kind of 'miracle' sealant into your engine, because it will seal up oil passages, and the water jacket, as well as temporarily fixing your head gasket leak. Having the head gasket replaced will cost around 500 dollars, unless there are problems, like the head being warped.

Maybe a bad head gasket. When cold, take the radiator cap off and start the engine. If it is a head gasket, water should shoot out of the radiator.

why do you want to. This would be a terrible idea as the 2.2 engines have head gasket issues. When the gasket weakens, the engine will start to overheat, and without a thermostat you wont know until the gasket blows and you ruin the entire engine. So you "can" run without a thermostat if you feel like blowing your engine.
