Check to see if you tighten the bolts to spec. and replaced the oil
if you have a spark, check for fuel, ign fuse, antitheft divice, redo your timing...

....or maybe the timing belt/chain was put back on wrong. Then no matter if you have fire and fuel, compression is not there and it wont run. Also, look to see if the wiring is all properly reconnected. Distributor dropped in wrong? Too many possible causes to guess without seeing or hearing it. Does it spin over really unusually fast? Faster than you remember it sounding before? If so, the timing belt or chain is causing the cam and crank to be out of time.
Hi i have a r2 motor and it got hot and then wouldnt start so i replaced the water pump as it was broke and now it wont start it winds and theres spark but wont start
Sure it will start with a blown head gasket. But, if you continue to run this engine with a blown head gasket you will destroy the engine.
The only real option is to have the head gasket replaced. Do not pour some kind of 'miracle' sealant into your engine, because it will seal up oil passages, and the water jacket, as well as temporarily fixing your head gasket leak. The head gasket will start to leak again after a bit, no matter what you put in the engine. Having the head gasket replaced will cost around 500 dollars, unless there are problems, like the head being warped.
You have a blown head gasket, cracked head, or both. The engine must be taken apart and head gasket & head possibly replaced. If you drove it in this condition for a long period of time you may have totally destroyed this engine and it will need a complete overhaul.
Maybe a bad head gasket. When cold, take the radiator cap off and start the engine. If it is a head gasket, water should shoot out of the radiator.
White smoke is from water getting into the cylinders. If this only occurs at start up the head gasket probably weeps into the cylinder. The gasket will probably get worse until the gasket gets replaced.
No, there isn't. If the engine runs too hot, you will start to hear squeaks and strange noises from the engine while driving, as the engine metal parts start to expand because of the excessive heat that will cause the engine's interior parts to have a more narrow space to move. This can burn the head gasket, which needs to be replaced or even worst, can eventually kill the engine, which then needs to it's parts replaced and re-tuned to work again.
It depends on the engine, where and how bad the gasket failure is, etc. If you run an engine with a blown head gasket that has allowed anti-freeze to contaminate the oil, you'll probably wipe out the motor.
You have a blown head gasket.
usually not....the engine will start, but will run rough and/or overheat
Yes, it will start. But know that every minute you run the engine you are doing damage.
why do you want to. This would be a terrible idea as the 2.2 engines have head gasket issues. When the gasket weakens, the engine will start to overheat, and without a thermostat you wont know until the gasket blows and you ruin the entire engine. So you "can" run without a thermostat if you feel like blowing your engine.
