Quite honestly, not sure why anyone would want to go into advertising sales.,....the media industry is dying! Everyone reads news online.....in terms of working at an ad agency, good luck! If u are willing to work ridiculous hours for bad pay, that's fine. U will be starving for the first few years.

The main reason why people should take up a field of study is interest/passion. We will not talk about that as that would be a common factor across non-marketing jobs as well.
Marketing is a broad field encompassing advertising, sales, people management, strategy, branding, and others.
It is said that in almost every interaction with another person you are 'selling' something; if you are selling a good or service then it is evident. Else, you could be selling your opinion, your idea, your feelings, or your image.
Selling here means convincing and is not to be taken literally as a financial exchange.
Given that marketing is present in every aspect of our lives and we deal with hundreds of advertisements on TV, hoardings, cell phones, internet, the industry is ever booming.
Also, it is relatively easier to get a job as starting jobs are 'commission-only' where you get paid if you sell - so the employer doesn't have much at stake.
More jobs, great prospects, good field - all make marketing a wide choice.
