If the pressure of the water is greater than the air pressure inside the cabin, the walls will crack, the doors will open, water will pour in and the submarine will sink to the bottom of the sea/lake, flooded. ("walls and "doors" are improper words, bear that in mind).

Why are submarines cabins pressurized?

To keep water from leaking in.

Why are airplane cabins pressurized?

Airplane cabins are pressurized because humans cannot breath at a very high elevation.Aircraft are pressurized to allow them to fly higher. Without pressurization, the amount of oxygen in the air would not be sufficient for humans to breathe.

What was the breakthrough technology introduced by Boeing 307 stratoliner in 1940?

Pressurized Cabins

Why do airplanes submarines and spacecraft have pressurise cabins?

To protect the occupants from extreme pressure.

How are air craft cabins pressurized?

Pressure is created in the engines and/or APU as "bleed air" and enters the cabin.

Why don't helicopter cabins have to be pressurized?

Helicopters don't generally fly high enough for cabin pressurization to be necessary.

Why must airplane cabins be pressurized?

Because at altitudes above 10,000 feet there is not enough air for humans to breathe. Aircraft cabins are pressurised so that the internal pressure is equal to that at about 7,000 feet.

Does air pressure increase as you get farther away from the ground?

No it decreases. That's why plane cabins need to be pressurized during flights. As your elevation increases, the air pressure decreases. It's inversely proportional.

Why air crafts at high altitude must have pressurized cabins?

Mostly not enough oxygen in the air at the low pressure up there.

Why do passenger aircraft have pressurized cabins?

To allow passengers to breathe sufficient oxygen, needed to survive, even in high altitudes.

What are some technology's that you used in world war 2 still used today?

Pressurized cabins on today's airliners were used on B-29 Superfortress's.

Why are aircraft cabins pressurized?

For two reasons: 1. To make the air breathable and comfortable. 2. In conjunction with the above, to keep the temperature at a safe level.
