ANSWER

Liquid crystal displays should be driven with an alternating drive voltage to avoid biasing the crystal. If driven with a DC signal, the crystal will remain twisted. This will effectively reduce the contrast that is possible to achieve, as well as leaving an afterimage on the display.

There is no liquid in LCD so why you call him LCD?

Liquid crystal displays use crystals that are not solid. The optical transparency of the crystal is adjusted with an electrical signal. The crystal will change its orientation as the signal is varied. It is this fluid motion that classifies the crystal as a liquid.

What is the thermometric property of liquid crystal thermometer?

The thermal expansion of this liquid must be proportional to temperature; also corrosive, toxic and very colored liquids must be avoided if it is possible. These liquids doesn't react with glass.

Why does an LCD use AC?

Because Alternating Current is the standard form of electricity available, devices which operate on Direct Current, such as a Liquid Crystal Display, have a converter, which converts the AC into the appropriate voltage of DC.

What difference between LCD and led?

LCD is Liquid Crystal Display, consisting of a thin liquid-crystal gel between two glass panels. LED 'Slight Emitting Diodes--also use liquid crystal gel for the screen, but the main difference lies in how the display is lit.

What is the role of semiconductors in calculators?

Calculators are amazing devices used for quick calculations. They use semiconductors in two places: -- in chips (widely known) -- in display An Integrated Chip, which performs calculations, employs transistors, FETs, diodes, etc. These are made up of semiconductors. The IC is the brain of the calculator. Next, the important part is display which used Liquid Crystal Display. In modern day calculators, Twisted Nematic crystal display is used where voltage changes must be made to increase or decrease the amount of light passing through them to create numbers. Instead of using different plates for the 7 segments and supplying separate voltage for each of them, a single plate is used and semiconductor in the form of FETs is embedded in glass so that voltage of every segment can be controlled by the semiconductor device and a common voltage source can be used. Nowadays, calculators form characters other than numbers which requires only a selected area to be supplied with voltage. This is accomplished using semiconductors.

Can i use liquid crystal thermometer to measure level of gas in a cylinder?

A thermometer is not adequate in this situation.

what is crystal stemware used for?

Crystal stemware is usually used for crystal glasses; mostly wine glasses. A lot of households in the 20th and 21st century use crystal stemware glasses for wine and other liquid consumables.
