They will usually not fit. They will not fit around the front brake caliper. However, I have 15" rims mounted on my 2000 GMC Sierra. I had to add a wheel spacer and I got away with it by using the following rims:
Cragar Soft 8 397 Series
Wheel Diameter 15 in.
Wheel Width (in) 8.000 in.
Backspacing (in) 4.000 in.
Offset -12.00mm
You may also want to grind away part of your caliper. Just don't go too crazy, for obvious reasons.

It all depends on how tall the tire is, what's the rims backspacing and the width of the tire and rims. Tire and wheel shops can tell you your limits.
