Automatic uses Mopar ATF+4
What type of transmission fluid do I put into a 2001 ram 1500 four-wheel-drive drive automatic truck
12-15 litres assuming its an automatic
It will be a 4l80E Transmission. (4 speed automatic with over drive and lock up converter)
you have to drop the oil pan on the TRANSMISSION, and you can't miss it, it will be right on the other side.
The overdrive solenoid is on the top of the valve body inside the transmission. The pan and valve body have to be removed to access.
The Ram 1500 Usually came with the NV3500 Transmission and the other models such as the 2500 and the 3500s came with the NV4500 or the NV4500HD
Your transmission is slipping and should be checked asap. on some models they can flush the transmission and adjust the bands this will give you a little more life out of the transmission.
Every Chrysler product uses ATF+4
The price of the transmission itself should run you $2000 - $2500. Depending on if it's 2 or 4 wheel drive. Also the installation of the transmission would not be included in this price.
