Yes, both should be interchangable.
1988 is new body style, the doors are not interchangeable.
The Largest engine that will fit the motor mounts in a 1988 Ford Bronco is a 351 Windsor engine. You can get custom motor mounts and what not to fit any engine, but it takes some creativity and welding. I have a 460 engine in my 1988 Bronco, but it took quite the time to fit it in.
I put 31" swampers on my 88 Bronco. Rubbed a little bit though. You'll fit bigger ones if you lift it a few inches. 2" lift will fit 33's, 8" 39.5's Good luck.

Dumdassesssssssssssss!
POSSIBLY A LOOSE GROUND WIRE AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR ON MINE,GOOD LUCK! The most likely cause on the late 80's Bronco & Ranger for headlight problems is the failure of the Dimmer switch connection. I had to completely replace the connector & switch on my '88 Bronco II to resolve the problem.
!987 Bronco II had egr system, but 88's dont have egr system. I own and 88 and a manual and it states this
no, the body style changed in 1988 1981 thru 1987 are the same though
on the 88 ranger the switch is above your rearview mirror located on the ceiling on the 88 ranger the switch is above your rearview mirror located on the ceiling
From 88 to 99 will interchange.
