I have been taking the 500mg pill twice a day for epilepsy for over 10 years now. I have a history of gaining weight easily and eating a real lot very often by taking it. I'm sure that once I'm off of it I won't be thinking about eating so often and will easily get the weight off that I put on when I first started taking it. Before I went on the medication I was taking a mens waist size 29. But now I'm taking a size 34. Went from about 140 pounds up to 176. A doctor I've been seeing has told me that many patients he has who take it are heavy and eat a lot.
no when you first start taking it you will lose a couple of pounds at first then the longer your on it you stop losing weight

BCP have not conclusively be connected to weight gain - as many women lose weight from taking them as gain weight. The same percent on a placebo also gain and lose. If you are one of those women who gained from BCP - changing or stopping the pill should allow you to lose weight by reducing calories sensibly.
You lose weight when you burn more calories than you ingest. If the birth control pills are forcing you to overeat and underexercise, you might lose weight if you stop taking them. You could also try eating less and/or exercising more.
If you gained any weight while on the pill, once you stop taking it you will most likely lose the same amount you gained, due to the hormones that are increased, when taking the pill. However, this can depend on your diet, as well as the type of birth control you are taking.
Unfortuanately Depakote augments a person's appitite, and as for the blood tests it should be monitored every 6 months.
You can use natural hormones to balance your hormones. You can exercise and eat lean protein and vegetables in order to lose weight.
No! There is a real risk of having severe, life-threatening seizures, so it is imperative to see your doctor who will reduce the dose appropriately if needed.

Diet pills usually don't work. Either they don't do anything, or they make you lose a small amount of weight, then it comes right back on whenever you stop taking them. The best way to lose weight and KEEP it off is a reduced-calorie diet with exercise at least 3 days a week for 30-60 minutes.
