If you have a positive TCA result in a drug test, it means you have tested positive for taking an antidepressant drug. They can found traces of the drug in your system.
absolutely.
Tricyclic antidepressants (TCA's) like trazodone (Desyrel) and amitriptyline (Elavil).

Yes, it can come up as a TCA (Tricyclic Antidepressant). Not illegal, but something that someone may as you about because they are not commonly prescribed anymore. There is also evidendce that it can make you test falsely for Methadone.
for the precipitation of macromolecules, such as proteins, DNA, and RNA.
Doubtful. I was taking Wellbutrin for quite some time (while taking random UA's) and never had any issues. All though I have had rumors of false positves for cocaine, I don't believe that too be true at all; they have vastly different metabolites, even though the effects of wellbutrin have been described as weak cocaine. Also, even if it were to cause a false positive, when they send it in to the lab it will show up as bupropion and you will be in the clear.
That is not one of the drugs that are screened. Even if it does show up, it should not affect your job. Many people take anti-depressants and if it is prescribed, employers cannot discriminate. If you have any questions, call the testing lab before you take the test and ask them if it shows up. Tell them that you don't want to list that drug on any forms because you don't want the employer knowing your personal business and if you get a sympathetic representative of the drug screening company, they'll tell you straight. In the past there has been no need nor any ability for drug screening labs to screen for anti-depressants. That MAY have changed, but it is not likley.
